Oilers Fan Christmas Wish List

This is an Oilers fan Christmas wish list for what I want to see in the new year of 2009.

Dream List

  • a Zach Stortini NHL hat trick

  • Sam Gagner demoted to Springfield

  • Jeff Drouin-DesLauriers handed the #1 job

  • Kelly Buchberger and the whole boys club fired (retaining Pendergast, MacGregor, and Huddy)

  • Mark Messier hired as head coach

  • Pat Quinn hired as GM

  • Denis Grebeshkov develops into the next Paul Coffey and is signed to a 12 year contract

  • Ladislav Smid takes over the shut down role and Steve Staios is dealt for a bag of pucks and Tim Hortons gift cards

  • Dwayne Roloson takes over Pete Peeter's job and his first lesson involves batting lessons

  • Ethan Moreau is traded behalf of a request of Jayman Master Builders and Ales Hemsky replaces him as captain

  • Oilers give up on season and go for Jonathan Tavares

  • Realistic Wish List

  • Oilers sign a sniper (Kovalchuk?) in the off-season

  • the 3 goalie problem is dealt with as Garon is dealt for a prospect and draft pick(s)

  • Mathieu Roy is dumped

  • Erik Cole regains scoring touch and is signed long term by Oilers

  • Andrew Cogliano is given his due

  • Robert Nilsson is traded

  • Robbie Schremp wins the shootout drill at the skills competition (if he's there at all, that is)

  • "Please avoid at all costs" wish list

  • do not trade Ladislav Smid

  • do not trade Denis Grebeshkov

  • do not trade Theo Peckham

  • do not resign Dwayne Roloson

  • do not make big deals on the trade deadline for a team that won't make a run

  • Happy Holidays
